What’s the best cloth for Drapery
Drapery Cleaning in Bell — I was recently at a customer’s home and prior to calling me for her furnishings she’d called in a neighborhood drapery workroom to perform her window treatments. They had only been installed a week prior. I noticed right away that the bottom of the drapery panels have been”being trained”. This means that the seamstress had accumulated all the pleats at the bottom of every panel, and loosely attached them that they would remain in place. This can be a process that occurs in the workroom before setup
About a week after I moved back to the customer’s house, along with the draperies were no longer there. She mentioned to me that her seamstress had come straight out, down them and she will be changing the header to a different style. The header is the detail on top of the panels. They had the issue that they were diligent in attempting to solve although the draperies were rehung. The pleats at the base of the panels were not hanging directly. They flared out on either side at the base of every panel.
I had been honest on what I believed about her draperies since my client asked my opinion. I told her that they had chosen the wrong kind of fabric. A polyester cloth had been chosen by them and no matter what they did with that particular fabric, it would never hang. Not only that, she had chosen to go with a panels onto a two story window to save cash, which seemed very odd in the space
The workroom she dealt with unfortunately did a poor job of directing her into making the option that is right, and they essentially just wanted to sell the task, so the customer something that was within her budget array instead of offering expert advice was gave by them. There are a whole lot of factors and the attractiveness of the fabric really isn’t the essential element.
There are software that are different obviously – you might want something very structured, or something a bit, within a casual sitting area if you’re installing draperies at a living room. It takes an expert eye and understanding of cloth properties that will help you make the choice that is ideal . I am a believer that is big, and nearly all of my clients love this, that if an item may push you it is good to explore it. I know I would rather know my options so that I could make an educated choice.
The bottom line is that the cloth type is extremely important to the way in which the drapery will appear, not to mention fabric choice affects the price. Fabric is the largest piece of this cost breakdown for custom draperies. There is also the style chosen, labor hardware and setup.
The workroom should have led the client to a mix or maybe a polyester/cotton mix. The material of this linen and cotton will help the manmade polyester fibers hang
A good excellent drapery fabric begins at around $50 per lawn retail and can go up from there.
