What is the best fabric for Drapery
Drapery Cleaning in Fillmore — I was recently at a customer’s home and she had called in a drapery workroom to do her window treatments. They had been installed a week prior. I discovered right away the base of the drapery panels have been”being trained”. This means that the seamstress had accumulated all of the pleats at the bottom of every panel, and loosely tied them so that they would stay in place. This can be a process that occurs before setup in the workroom
About a week later I went back into the customer’s home, and the draperies were no longer there. She mentioned to me that her seamstress had come straight , taken them down and she was going to be changing the header to a different style. The header is that the pleating detail at the top of these panels. The draperies were rehung however they still had the same issue they were so diligent in attempting to resolve. The pleats at the bottom of the panels not hung directly. They flared out on the sides at the base of every panel.
Since my customer asked my view on what I thought about her new draperies, I had been honest with her. I advised her that they had chosen the wrong type of cloth. They’d chosen a polyester fabric and regardless of what they did with that cloth, it’d never hang directly. Not only that, she had chosen to go to save cash, which looked very odd in the distance
Did a poor job of directing her into making the choice that is proper, and they essentially just wanted to sell the job, so the customer something that was possibly within her budget range instead of offering expert advice was offered by them. There are a whole lot of elements to consider when it comes to choosing fabrics, and also the beauty of the cloth is not the factor that is essential.
There are software that are different obviously – if you’re installing draperies at a living room, you might want something very structured, or within a sitting room, something a little more free flowing and gauzy. It takes knowledge and an expert eye of cloth properties to help you make the right selection for fabric for your custom made drapery. I am a huge believer, and most of my customers appreciate this, that if an item may push you it’s very good to at least explore it. I know personally I would know of my options so that I can make an educated decision.
The main point is that the cloth kind is very important to the way the drapery will look, and of course cloth choice directly impacts the price. Fabric is the largest piece of this price breakdown for custom draperies. There’s also the style selected, labor, hardware and installation.
The workroom must have led the client to a polyester/linen mix or possibly a polyester/cotton mix. The natural material of linen and this cotton will help the artificial polyester fibers hang
A good quality drapery fabric generally starts at around $50 per lawn retail and may go up from there.
