After this, use rubbing alcohol to remove any gum or wax residue that may still be present, and then vacuum the affected area.
Mix one tablespoon of ammonia with one cup of water, and then scrub the stain until it is gone. This method is effective for removing stains caused by vomit, blood, red wine, or mustard. Rinse the area thoroughly and blot it until it is dry.
How to Thoroughly Clean Area Rugs
In addition to vacuuming rugs on a regular basis once every week or two, you should also deep clean them approximately once every year. This involves covering the entirety of the rug with a foam designed for carpet cleaning, rinsing it thoroughly, and then letting it dry. After this, you should proceed to vacuum the surface. Depending on the dimensions of the rug, you might also be able to clean it using a dry cleaning method.
